How We Attain Remarkable Results
With extensive training and experience in cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Ura is well qualified to offer various types of porcelain veneers, including minimal- and no-prep varieties, for the right cases. We have worked with the same dental lab for 25 years, and the level of quality they consistently provide is outstanding. Our lab, NuCraft Dental Arts, uses only FDA-certified materials and has achieved the prestigious certification of the Dental Appliance Manufacturer’s Audit System (DAMAS). Dr. Ura and his lab artisans continually study the science and techniques in their study club. They have even traveled together to the University of Zurich to collaboratively study advanced techniques. Our long-term relationship and shared vision with NuCraft contributes to the sensational results for our veneer cases.
Attention to Detail
At your initial consultation, Dr. Ura will sit down with you and discuss your concerns and goals. Porcelain veneers can be used on any number of teeth, from a single tooth to all the teeth that are visible when you smile. In any case, he will design your veneers to complement your facial features. This requires a careful evaluation and attention to the proportion of your features. The goal is to provide symmetry to your smile that works in harmony with your unique facial structure. The design must also incorporate the optimal function of your teeth. Expect us to take a good number of photographs. We use these photographs to fully understand your concerns and desires while also allowing the doctor to share his insight. Once you both have set the initial vision, the doctor will use this information to communicate to the laboratory so a wax model of the planned result can be made. Once completed, we will share with you the vision of your new smile in the waxup so you can see if we have met your desires. When you are both pleased, this waxup can be transferred to your teeth giving you the results desired in a predictable manner.
Procedure for Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers generally require appointments spaced a few weeks apart. At your first appointment, Dr. Ura will prepare your teeth for the veneers. The tooth preparation involves removing a very small amount of tooth enamel to create room for the slight thickness of the porcelain, which is less than one millimeter. In some cases, Dr. Ura may be able to use no-prep veneers, which requires minimal to no preparation. One of the benefits of the diagnostic waxup being done is it allows the doctor to use matrices so that the minimal amount of tooth is reduced. After your teeth are prepared, he will take impressions to send to his lab for crafting by an expert dental ceramist. Your veneers will be handcrafted with a multi-layered technique of various porcelains to accentuate natural tooth structure and appearance.
You will wear provisional (temporary) veneers until your permanent veneers are ready. The provisional veneers also allow us to make any changes desired and allow us to predictably communicate them to our laboratory experts. We may schedule a follow-up appointment to recheck the fit of your provisional veneers and to make certain that you are thoroughly pleased with your results. During your seating appointment, Dr. Ura will try your veneers in to be sure you and the doctor are pleased. If satisfied, he will then bond your beautiful veneers permanently to your teeth. First, he applies an etching solution to your prepared teeth to ensure a strong attachment. Then he applies bonding cement to the back of each veneer. One at a time, he positions the veneer precisely on the front surface of the tooth and hardens the cement with a curing light. When this is complete, Dr. Ura will check your bite and make any necessary fine adjustments.
