Implant Dentures
Nashua, NH Dentist
Implants have revolutionized dentures, eliminating the need for closed palate uppers and adhesive of any kind. As few as two can provide the needed retention to give you confidence in your lower denture. Four to six implants can hold an upper or lower denture securely in place, even when the patient eats the chewiest foods! On top of the implants, an abutment creates a snap or clip system for retention. Receptacles are fitted into the denture’s underside, so the appliance literally clicks into place. You will experience absolutely no slippage, looseness, wobbling, or poor fit with implant-supported dentures. Typically the entire procedure takes about three to four months, but in some cases, the results can be even faster!
Secure your Smile with Stable, Superior Implant-supported Dentures
If you are missing several or all of your teeth, dentures can restore the oral function, aesthetics, and health of your smile. Dr. Stephen C. Ura and his staff have extensive experience with dental implants and recommend implant-supported restorations for patients who want a stable foundation for dentures. Dental implants help ensure that your dentures do not shift while eating, talking, or smiling. Attached directly to dental implants, implant-supported dentures at our Nashua, NH, practice can secure your smile for years to come.
Differences between Traditional and Implant-supported Dentures
Traditional dentures are available in both full and partial sizes, replacing several teeth to a full dental arch. These restorations are held in place through natural suction, metal clasps, or dental adhesives. Implant-supported dentures also come in full and partial sizes, but will rely on advanced dental implants for support. These small metal posts are surgically placed in your jaw, and will replace your lost tooth roots. This innovative treatment provides superior benefits and comfort for your smile and oral health.
Benefits of Implant-supported Restorations
Implant-supported dentures offer increased comfort and stability, as well as evident aesthetic advantages over traditional dentures. Dental implants eliminate the need for dental adhesives, large plastic bases, or metal clasps to hold your dentures in place. Your dental implants will fuse with your jaw, providing permanent, unrivaled stability for your restorations. With restored oral function, you can eat the foods you love without worrying about the risk of slippage, and can smile with confidence. Additionally, dental implants halt bone recession that otherwise occurs after tooth loss. This advantage prevents the sunken look associated with missing teeth and preserves the shape of your facial features. You will no longer have to worry about having dentures relined to match your changing jaw shape.

Treatment Process
When you come in for an initial consultation, Dr. Ura will thoroughly examine your jaw and oral health to determine your candidacy for dental implants. If you qualify for implant-supported dentures, the first step will be receiving your implants. This process can typically be completed during one surgery. Dr. Ura might place as few as two implants to secure a partial denture, and four or more to support a full denture.
Dental implants ensure that your dentures do not slip or shift, and fit securely to give you a comfortable bite.
After your surgery, you will spend the next three to six months healing to allow your implants to integrate with your jaw. Once you have healed, we will place an abutment piece on top of the implant to connect your dentures to your implant posts. This system ensures that your dentures do not slip or shift, and fit securely to give you a comfortable bite. Some patients may qualify for specialized treatment to receive a full restoration the same day as their implant placement procedure. Dr. Ura and his staff can discuss all your options and help you decide the best option to help you meet your goals.
